A very effective method of deconstruction and reconstruction of ideas and perception, in particular in expressions of diasporic identity as seen in many works by black artists in the 1980s. I propose the sliding puzzle as a kinetic form of collage used as an ongoing collective process of understanding consciousness and constructing identity which reflects themes central to diasporic experiences.
